Research suggests that magnetic field is migratory birds’ map

A recent study in Russia confirmed that birds use the earth’s magnetic field to find their way. Scientists captured migrating Eurasian reed warblers on the Baltic. The birds were flying to Saint Petersburg and were instead moved 960km east to Moscow where they are subjected to simulated conditions of the Baltic except for the magnetic field. On release they were able to find their way back.
